One to One we work professionally and individually with clients to understand the whole person. Carefully and thoroughly we introduce a progressive coaching, exercise and dietry plan designed around you. One to One packages are very competitively priced.

Meet the Trainers

Jeanette
I've always been interested in exercise and physical activity starting my working life as a professional dancer and then moving into fitness. I've taken part in a number of marathons over recent years, obstacle races and other events and understand that all round fitness including using weights is essential to avoiding injury and to maximising the benefits from my training.
Rachel
When I retired from working as a health professional in the NHS for over 30 years I trained as a Personal Trainer. I am professionally and personally aware of the positive impact increased daily activity and regular exercise can have on an individual, both physically and psychologically. I am keen to assist anybody, at any age, to take control of their own well-being and fitness and enjoy all the benefits being a bit more active can bring.

I have been teaching indoor and outdoor classes for many years. No two sessions are the same and I always give 100% to each group. It's hugely satisfying when a client achieves their goals and even better when they say "I couldn't have done it without you"! At Matt Woods Fitness, clients have the freedom to progress on their terms without being tied to attending a gym.

INDIVIDUALLY TAILORED WEIGHT LOSS AND EXERCISE SOLUTIONS FOR REAL PEOPLE

You wouldn't enter a department store and expect all the clothes to be the same size, so why expect a diet book or exercise video to provide exactly the right solution for you. We're all different. Some clients enjoy and benefit from quite intensive coachiing whilst others respond to a more laid back approach. Some enjoy exercising indoors and some in the fresh air. Many clients work out to pop music but others prefer classical or even no music at all.

By first understanding YOU we deliver a service that is built around your requirements. Like wearing a new outfit or suit, if it fits comfortably you will enjoy the experience more and enjoyment of what you are doing is the cornerstone of success.

Our point is that by taking a personal approach to weight loss and exercise, we are able to help all sorts of different clients in a variety of ways, but always to maximise the return on their time and their investment. We provide two different types of service to clients to help achieve this.

'Simply Slim and Trim' (tm) delivers significant and permanent weight loss solutions to our clients through bespoke coaching, diet and nutrition over a defined period

'Fitness and Well Being' (tm) provides a personalised balance of nutritional guidance and exercise coaching, as well as regular supervised access to our purpose built exercise studio, into the long term. Additionally our Wetherby Boot Camp can be enjoyed as a stand alone experience or as part of either of the above.

OVER 20 YEARS IN FITNESS AND STILL GOING STRONG

So here's a little bit of information about me. As you can see I'm not new addition to the fitness industry. Fitness and health have been my particular passion for as long as I can remember has been fitness and health; in fact I started my first gym more than 20 years ago. This passion was ignited many years previously when, as a young boy, each year I was taken to the 3 AAA' s athletics championship by my ex-athlete faither and introduced to the likes of Ron Pickering and Geoff Capes.

My teen years were spent at the gym, on the rugby pitch and on the athletics track so it was no surprise to anyone that, when the opportunity arose, I opened my first health club close to the centre of Leeds aged about 26 - in the process giving up the glittering accountancy career that beckoned. The fitness centre blossomed at least partly due to the emphasis I placed on the individual nature of the exercise and nutrional instruction given and this in turn led to opportunities to coach fitness and nutrition all over the UK. I'm now committed to working individually with clients of all ages in my own purpose built studio.

How do I try out One to One sessions?

Simply book a free one to one chat. There is no obligation and once we understand your requirements we will provide a competitive price for our services for you to consider.

Do I need to be fit to start with?

No, don’t worry - you’re at Matt Woods Fitness to get fit! Your fitness level is always taken into account and the exercise modifications provided where required.

What is the Matt Woods Fitness minimum age?

The minimum age limit is 17 years old.

Can I take part even if I am completely unfit and/or overweight?

Of course – we simply start at your level. More challenging exercises will be demonstrated as you improve.

Do I need to check with a health professional before I sign up?

You should complete the terms and conditions which includes a general disclaimer /health questionnaire before you start your first session. If in doubt or you answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions, we recommend you speak to your GP before trying a session.

How do I pay?

One to One sessions are by arrangement.
Hiitstart classes - Online payment facility is provided by PayPal (accepting all major credit/debit cards). You can also pay by cash or cheque in person and ongoing monthly payment by standing order.

What should I wear for a session?

Ladies, you’ll need some comfy workout tights, a workout top, a towel and don’t forget a decent sports bra. Guys, you’ll need a t-shirt, suitable workout shorts or leggings and a towel. Footwear should be clean and of the indoor type and you’ll probably also need some water.

Are there any studio rules or etiquette that I need to know about?

Please put phones on silent and don't make or take calls in the studio. A friendly and positive attitude is something that is very important to us, so please leave any negativity at the door before you start. We will ensure that each One to One session or Hiitstart class is enjoyable for all participants.

How long is each workout?

One to One sessions are normally an hour each. All the current Hiitstart sessions are 30 minutes in length.

What if I am late for a session?

For the convenience of all, we ask that everyone arrives between 5 and 15 minutes before the start of a session. It can be very distracting to arrive late and admittance is left to the discretion of the instructor if late entry exceeds 5 minutes.
